The Roots of Perkins Paws

My story is rooted in the belief that every dog deserves a safe, happy home and the joy of a good walk. I had worked in my previous career for almost 10 years and since recently becoming a proud parent I decided that my career and working hours were no longer fit for purpose. My lifestyle and mindset completely changed during a very difficult pregnancy followed by the most perfect year of maternity leave.

It was simply life changing and it gave me the courage to put my passion into something I have wanted to do for several years.

A little bit more about me:
I love being outdoors, most of my hobbies involve this... I LOVE gardening, I have a very large garden at home and I have also had an allotment for nearly 10 years. I enjoy running, swimming, walking and spending time with my family.

Her favourite place

The minute the sand hits her paws she sprints! She absolutely adores the beach

My darling Cassy, she is an astonishing 17 year old Chipoo (Chihuahua cross Toy Poodle)
When I was just 16 years old I had £340 in my bank which I had earned from waitressing, I had asked my mam to lend me £60.... she obviously asked what for?! I took her to a pet shop and I bought Cassy.

My dad didn't want us to have a dog, he said I had to walk her and pay all the vet bills, 17 years later and my dad pays all the bills, he walks her daily and she has had many lap naps along the way. After 9 years I bought my first property and my mam wouldn't let me take Cassy with me because she obviously became the family dog and not solely my dog! We ended up deciding on joint custody and she stays between both our houses - Everyone fell in love with her but how could you not? She's adorable.

Cassy has epilepsy, arthritis, hernia, partially deaf and blind, minor heart murmur, recently lost one of her eyes due to glaucoma but still enjoys walks, playing and cuddles living life to the full because she is loved!

She sleeps like a human

She loves being tucked in - she has always slept with her body under the blankie and her head poking out
